How will Malaysia Numismatic market fare for 2019

There is no doubt about it that 2018 was a bad year for the numismatic market. A lot of collection price went down due to many collectors wanting to sell off their collection to raise cash due to the slow down of the malaysia economy.

I hope 2018 is a wake-up call to those who always think the numismatic collection will increase as time pass. Not too long ago, someone I know buys a 2015 ASEAN RM10 single silver proof coin at RM130. That coin was issued at RM200 in 2015 but this year the price has dropped nearly 35 %.

Not to mention there is a widespread site spreading fake information and scam that is going rampant without anyone to keep it in check in through social media. This has a huge impact on the market as it will hurt the business by making people not interested in involving in the hobby due to fear been scam.

This is the very reason I started my youtube channel to counter all this misinformation and scam that are spreading through social media.

There are completed data or research about Malaysia numismatic history 10 years plus ago already. The only problem now is how to get it to the people before the misinformation or scam reach people. However nobody has ever tried doing that so in the past, so we keep getting all this case where people losing thousand of ringgit due to scam.

There are also some parties who go and speculate market by spreading a rumor saying certain collection will increase in the future. I have always been against this kind of act as it will hurt the market in the long run. The reason is numismatic collection is about history, it is not a stock or a quicky rich scheme. By the way, most of the time the value increase is due to inflation, not the value goes up.



One of the best case studies is 2017 The World Team Table Tennis Championships RM5 copper coin. I at the beginning already estimate that it should not worth more than RM1500 at 2017. It was clear some shit was happening in the auction and it bid up to RM5000 plus and some even say it will increase in future. Well, guess what happened at 2018? it drops to RM1500, in one of the auctions the owner even have to bid his own coin to avoid losses.

So in conclusion, unless Malaysia economy recovers expect the numismatic market remains slow and price drop. Don't involve in the numismatic field just because of money, because you going to find it very dissapointing . I involved because I love history and want to preserve it. Mind you I am still renting room , if so easy to make money i would have buy my own house.

Why i hunt across the whole country.

i am sure some of you are aware of me going around the country to hunt rm2 and 1 sen.some say it is insane and one of them is my parent. Since 4 years ago, i been hunting across the whole country. This hunt is originally my side project in the beginning if i got extra cash and nothing to do.
cause it is hard to find me as i am doing this home based so i seldom have people come to me to sell their collection


This trip is more than hunting RM2 ZB or seeing different place. if you only think i do for this 2 reason, then you are missing a bigger picture.
I consider what i do as part of my contribution to community.
Those no collection value i help them sent to Bank Negara Malaysia(BNM).

I hope in helping the bank clear out the old banknote and coin, more cash will be in the money cycle.
money that is not moving in the cycle worth only at face value. But if RM1 banknote pass 100 person , in market it worth RM100.

With the current economy in such a slow state, i hope what i do will contribute in getting it recover faster.
